The BD name became recognized in 1989, when the company introduced the first exhaust brake for the burgeoning diesel pick-up truck market. BD's roots, however, actually date back to 1972, when Valley Fuel Injection, Ltd. first opened its doors. Today, Valley Fuel Injection and BD Diesel Performance are one, with eight specialty divisions that focus on diesel power train components.
Fuel Injection Calibration Department
Owing to its heritage as a diesel fuel systems specialist, BD is a factory-certified Bosch, Stanadyne, Delphi and Zexel calibration and repair lab. BD also remanufactures both mechanical and electronically-controlled fuel pumps and injectors for all diesel engine applications.
Exhaust Brake Manufacturing
BD built its reputation on exhaust brakes, and today it designs, assembles and tests both engine and remote mount systems, either air or vacuum-actuated. Featuring a rugged cast-iron body and a stainless steel butterfly valve and shaft assembly, BD's exhaust brake incorporate exclusive Variable Orifice Technology, which builds peak efficiency quickly, and holds it consistently.
Electronic Circuit Design and Assembly
Today's electronically-controlled diesel engines require precise control not only for maximum performance, but dependability. Rather than out source this important componentry, BD created its own department for circuit board design/assembly, programming and wire harness assembly.
Transmission and Torque Converter Design and Remanufacturing
Increased horsepower and torque necessitate transmission modifications to ensure reliable operation. That's why BD specializes in Ford, Dodge and GM/Allison truck transmissions. Every one of BD's complete exchange tow or race transmission assemblies is designed to handle double the amount of factory torque. Application-specific valve bodies and accumulator bodies are also available. BD also offers the toughest torque converters in the industry, with custom-designed stators, furnace-brazed fins, double and triple clutches and stamp-forged covers (stronger than billet steel!) for high-horsepower/torque applications.
Turbocharger Design
When is a turbo more than just a turbo? When it's got the BD name on it. BD Diesel Performance is an engineering test facility for industry leaders Borg Warner/Schwitzer and Garrett. As a result, BD leads the industry with its Dodge Cummins and GM Duramax turbo systems. BD is on a continual quest to develop more innovative turbo applications, and as of December 2006 opened a remanufacturing facility to offer new and remanufactured turbos for all industries.
Installation
As part of its commitment to service, BD offers a complete retail outlet for factory product installation, service and dealer training. This well-equipped facility features state-of-the-art diagnostic scanners, as well as a 1,500 horsepower, computerized chassis dyno, It's also the place where BD's famous bi-annual Dyno Day is held.
Research and Development
BD has a team of engineers on staff that designs diesel turbocharger systems, electronic controls for automatic transmissions, diesel engine performance tuning files, intake systems, air to air and water to air intercoolers, injector designs, exhaust systems, flex plates, short-throw shift kits, engine shut down devices, high-rpm devices and many other new products. With design, manufacturing and testing in-house, we can assure the utmost quality in our products.
